2012 Yamaha Road Star Silverado S Sport Tourer

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety
exists in certain 2011 XV16 (“Road Star,” “Midnight Star,” Road Star Silverado and “Road Star Silverado S”) model motorcy-cles, and in 2011 and 2012 Road Star Silverado (“Road Star,” “Road Star Limited Edition,” “Midnight Star,” and “Road Star Silverado”) motorcycles. In affected motorcycles, certain transmission components may not meet Yamaha quality-control standards, which could allow abnormal wear that eventually results in a broken retaining circlip. If the circlip breaks, the transmission could lock up, which would also cause the rear wheel to lock up. This could result in loss of control and a vehicle crash with injury or death.

2012 YAMAHA YZF-R6 Super Sport Best Speed

2012 YAMAHA YZF-R6 Review

The 2010 Daytona 200 winner is back and ready for the street or track. Light, powerful, and bristling with knowledge gained from years of racing, the YZF-R6 is the most advanced production 600cc motorcycle Yamaha, or anybody else, has ever built. The new 2012 Yamaha YZF-R6 was the first production motorcycle with a fly-by-wire throttle system for flawless response under all conditions. YCC-I, Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake, is used on the R6 to vary intake tract length for excellent cylinder filling and a broader powerband. On the higher-revving R6, its benefits are even more pronounced. Back torque-limiting slipper-type clutch greatly facilitates braking/downshifting from high speed. Close-ratio 6-speed transmission delivers seamless power and maximum acceleration.

2012 YAMAHA YZF-R6

2012 YAMAHA YZF-R6 is compact, lightweight 67mm x 42.5mm, 599cc DOHC 16-valve, liquid-cooled titanium-valved four-cylinder has a compression ratio of 13.1:1, for great response. Domed pistons with valve cutouts produce a compact combustion chamber. YAMAHA YZF-R6 with Fuel injection mapping for the YCC-T™Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle dual-injector system complements the high compression ratio for great throttle response and reduced engine braking.

YZF-R6 with YCC-I Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake electronically varies intake tract length for a broader powerband. 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 MotoGP Leading Inovation

The 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 garnered the prestigious award as the 2009 Motorcycle of the Year from Motorcyclist Magazine. The Yamaha YZF-R1 was chosen for its MotoGP inspired engine and chassis technology, and for its luxurious fit and finish. Back for 2011, the Yamaha YZF-R1 is the only production motorcycle with a crossplane crankshaft. Crossplane technology, first pioneered in MotoGP racing with the M1, puts each piston 90° from the next, with an uneven firing interval of 270°- 180°- 90°- 180°. This uneven order does an amazing thing… it actually lets power build more smoothly. That means smooth roll-on delivery out of the corners, with outstanding tractability, followed by very strong high rpm power. It’s a feeling that’s simply unmatched, like having two engines in one: the low-rpm torquey feel of a twin with the raw, high-rpm power of an inline four. This breakthrough technology on the Yamaha YZF-R1 represents a paradigm shift in both technology and performance.

2012 Yamaha YZF-R1
This YZF-R1 keeps all the technological superiorities developed for its predecessor: YCC-TTM (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) is MotoGP inspired fly-by-wire technology used to deliver instant throttle response. YCC-I is Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake which is a variable intake system that broadens the spread of power. The fuel injection system provides optimum air/fuel mixtures for maximum power and smooth throttle response.

The 2011 YZF-R1 features Yamaha D-MODE (or drive mode) with rider-selectable throttle control maps to program YCC-T performance characteristics for riding conditions. The standard map is designed for optimum overall performance. The “A” mode lets the rider enjoy sportier engine response in the low- to mid-speed range, and the “B” mode offers response that is somewhat less sharp for riding situations that require especially sensitive throttle operation. Switching maps is as easy as pushing a button on the handlebar switch.

2012 Yamaha YZF-R1
2012 Yamaha YZF-R1
In keeping with this machine’s exceptional cornering ability and crisp handling, the aluminum frame has been designed to offer exceptional rigidity balance. The rear frame is lightweight Controlled-Fill die-cast magnesium, contributing the optimum mass centralization. Suspension includes SOQI front forks which use one of the tricks developed for our winning MotoGP bikes: independent damping. The left fork handles compression damping and the right side handles the rebound damping. And the rear shock adopts bottom linkage for optimum suspension characteristics.

The 2011 Yamaha YZF-R1 bodywork does more than add break-away-from-the-crowd styling with its more serious, less busy look. The side fairing is smooth for a sleek appearance. And, instead of the usual four-bulb headlight design, the YZF-R1 has only two projector-type bulbs mounted closer to the nose of the bike. This positions ram air ducts closer in for a more compact, smooth look. In addition, the rounded lenses are unique to the supersport industry.

Crossplane crankshaft technology proven in victory after victory on MotoGP machines provides a high-tech uneven firing interval. Unlike typical inline-four engine design, where the two outer and two inner pistons move together in pairs with 180° intervals, the crossplane crankshaft has each connecting rod 90° with a unique firing order of 270° – 180° – 90° – 180°. This overcomes the inherent fluctuations in inertial torque during each engine revolution, and the accompanying peaky torque characteristics. Instead, combustion torque continues to build, giving the rider more linear throttle response with awesome power and traction out of the corners.

2012 Yamaha YZF-R1
2012 Yamaha YZF-R1
To maximize rider comfort as well as power output, the engine adopts a coupling-type balancer that rotates in the opposite direction as the crankshaft. This engine features forged aluminum pistons to take maximum advantage of the power characteristics. Titanium intake valves are lightweight. A forced-air intake system is adopted to increase intake efficiency by using the natural airflow during riding to pressurize the air in the air box. This contributes to outstanding power delivery characteristics in the high-speed range, while the design also helps to minimize intake noise.

The new 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 exhaust system is meticulously designed to enhance engine output while, thanks to its three-way catalyst technology, also reducing exhaust emissions. The silencer is a single expansion type, and the sound coming through from the unique crossplane crankshaft-equipped engine is unlike any other inline-four cylinder production supersport. This fuel-injected engine takes full advantage of YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle), the MotoGP inspired fly-by-wire technology used to deliver instant throttle response. There’s also YCC-I, Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake, the variable intake system that broadens the spread of power. Fuel injectors have 12 holes for optimum fuel atomization that translates to the most power from every fuel charge.

2012 Yamaha Super Tenere Performance

The 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere is a street bike designed to fuse the touring and off-road worlds, giving motorcyclists a machine that can go virtually anywhere and do anything. Powering this do-it-all machine is a fuel-injected and liquid-cooled 1199cc Parallel Twin, a configuration Yamaha chose specifically due to its compact size. Each piston slides within a cylinder that has a bore and stroke measuring 98.0 x 79.5mm and compresses fuel to a ratio of 12.0:1. The engine’s firing order has been set so both of the cylinders fire closely together so the powerband mimics that of a large single-cylinder engine, which they claim enhances power delivery to the ground.

2012 Yamaha Super Tenere
Yamaha Super Tenere with technology comes in the form of a three-way adjustable traction control system. Engine power is transferred through a manual cable-actuated clutch; 6-speed transmission and shaft final drive, which was chosen for its all-around durability and relatively-low maintenance. The Super Tenere employs a standard-style handlebar and the seat can be set in two different positions; a low height of 33.26 inches or the standard height of 34.25 inches. It also comes with a windshield and plastic hand guards.

2012 Yamaha Super Tenere

2012 Yamaha Tenere has a water cooled parallel twin engine which is narrow and more compact to GS air cooled flat twin. Because of engine configuration ten has better temperature control better centralization of mass more efficient due to less internal engine noise and is far more reliable. GS is very difficult to drive through narrow gaps or deep trenches therefore less off road capabilities. GS had a myth as an off roader but there was no other choice. Ten employs far superior electronic technology than GS ordinary config. Ten 261 kg, GS Adven. 275 kg fully fueled. GS promoted weight is with 90% of fuel capacity and no ABS, TC heated grips and so on while Ten is fully loaded.

2012 Yamaha Super Tenere

Yamaha Super Ténéré has a new 1199cc parallel twin liquid-cooled engine features a unique 270° crank for superior traction because both pistons fire so closely together. It’s almost like having a big-bore thumper without the uncomfortable vibration. The all-new steel frame is designed to reduce rider fatigue during long rides. Using a steel main frame offers the best balance of strength and flexibility, one good at absorbing jolts from uneven road surfaces. The Super Ténéré comes equipped with an adjustable windshield and seat height. Yamaha Chip Control Throttle (YCC-T) electronically controls the throttle valves for outstanding response and improved controllability at all rpms. The YCC-T is used to provide even more control of the intake air volume for a smoother torque character. Special main ECU actually features 3 internal ECUs to control ignition, fuel injection and the YCC-T.

2012 Yamaha Super Tenere

The ABS or Anti Lock Braking System features Yamaha’s next generation independent linear controlled system with step-less, infinitely variable hydraulic pressure adjustment. The ABS unit, the ECU and the hydraulic unit are combined into a single compact unit that allows for mass centralization. This system uses the same wheel sensors as the traction control system, further reducing weight. When the ABS system senses impending wheel lock-up, the system regulates the hydraulic pressure to the point just before the wheel or wheels lock-up. ABS equipped “wave-style” 282mm rear disc is squeezed by a single piston, slide-type rear caliper. The rear master cylinder uses a 14mm piston to deliver strong, progressive stopping power with excellent control and feel.
