KTM 1900 RC8 R 2012 Review
The 2010 KTM 1190 RC8R is all you need to know it was not designed by an Italian. KTM is based in Austria (as a designer Gerald Kiska, who worked with KTM since 1991) a few minutes maintained by the Stelvio Pass in Italy, but there is no doubt KTM language non-Teutonic Italian design. Maybe it KTM RC8R distinctive design is the result of the location of Austria located between Italy and Germany: the cold, the influence German engineer focused romance mixed with Latin Europe. RC8R’s chiselled design creates a sense of where it stops. If the F-117 Stealth fighter crashed into a motorcycle factory, RC8R would be the most likely outcome. Thin and angular, and bound with a black matt paint, furtive looks, even if the characteristics of radar avoidance is questionable. Although few to describe the black and orange car as “beautiful”, admiration for the courage to come out well-used box of sportbike design of its brave origami shape.

The twin plug ignition system on the latest RC8 R fires the two differently sized spark plugs in each cylinder head independently of each other in such a way that more efficient combustion and a smoother, optimally controlled combustion sequence are achieved at all times. The result: even more and even better controlled power, lower fuel consumption, and less emissions.

The smooth shape of the crank webs on the latest RC8 R results in low-loss running of the crank drive. Ride quality is improved by the altered weight distribution of the crankshaft and a re-dimensioned alternator rotor. Together they optimise the load change behaviour of the engine.

The progressiveness of the linkage provides the shock absorber with refined responsiveness and still with sufficient reserves at peak loads. The position of the swingarm can be adjusted to the rider's riding style and weight on the easily accessible eccentric on the linkage, and squatting on acceleration prevented.

The sophisticated internal mechanism of the WP shock absorber on the RC8 R completely isolates the rebound damping from the compression stage, so that both can be adjusted without affecting one another. The compression damping can also be set for high speed and low speed. The suspension set-up range extends comfortably to racing conditions. The set-up ranges on the RC8 R's high-quality, upside-down forks from WP Suspension suffice separately for spring basis as well as the damping's rebound and compression stages from country road comfort to tough racing conditions. A WP steering damper keeps the forks on track, even in extreme conditions.
The RC8 R's brake system with highest quality Brembo® components functions perfectly, sensitively and steadily. At the front, for example, two radially-mounted, four-piston brake calipers and two 320 mm (12.6 in) and 5 mm (0.2 in) thick, semi-floating brake discs provide massive stopping power. The lightweight, Marchesini, aluminium die-cast wheels on the RC8 R are equipped with Dunlop SportSmart tyres. These top-quality tyres provide endless grip, whether on a wet country road or a scorching hot racetrack. They have a sensible service life and they support the unrivalled qualities of the KTM chassis.
